THE SIGNAL
Vera’s current 2026 sheets list a 41 km Olympic bike leg and a 22 km Sprint bike leg, with equipment collection held until all Sprint athletes have cleared the second transition.

Write Vera’s distances on your own lap card
Vera’s published bike distances differ from the round numbers on many generic triathlon checklists. Before Sunday 4 October, write a card for the format you entered. Use the distances and lap counts together; remembering only the format name leaves room for a wrong assumption.
- Olympic: swim 1,500 m over 2 laps; bike 41 km over 4 laps; run 10 km over 3 laps.
- Sprint: swim 750 m over 1 lap; bike 22 km over 2 laps; run 5 km over 2 laps.

Read the joins and exits
The 2026 bike and run diagrams distinguish access and finish segments from the lap circuits. Dividing the full distance by the number of laps does not establish an exact lap length. Review where you join the circuit, what counts as a completed lap and where you leave it; confirm those points with officials if the diagram is unclear.

Decide how you will keep track before starting
Choose a simple lap-counting method you already know how to use. If you use your watch, decide which moment marks a completed lap and practise the button sequence before race morning. A course diagram and your own count serve different purposes: the first shows the route, while the second helps you remember what you have completed.
There is one source problem to handle explicitly. The federation event page currently links to a Vera25 swim map. We have not treated its buoy sequence as verified for 2026. The current sheets do confirm the swim distances and lap counts above, but you should use Sunday’s briefing to confirm the actual buoy order, any exit between laps and the final route to transition.

Separate a packing task from an approval question
The race sheets require an approved rigid helmet, fastened whenever you are in contact with the bicycle. Check its fit and fastening before travelling so that equipment control is not your first attempt to adjust it. Both sheets also prohibit drafting between athletes of different sexes.
That wording does not answer every question about same-sex drafting, handlebars or clip-on accessories. If your setup needs a ruling, show it to an official at equipment control. Ask for the applicable instruction for your format rather than inferring permission from one sentence. Likewise, keep the wetsuit decision open until the official race-day instruction. Pack familiar equipment and use the briefing to resolve these specific questions.

Know which cutoff has actually been published
The Olympic sheet publishes a combined swim-plus-bike cutoff of 2 hours 5 minutes for men and 2 hours 10 minutes for women. It is not a limit for the complete race. Confirm where officials apply that cutoff if you need to understand its operation.
The current Sprint sheet does not state a cutoff. That omission does not establish that no operational limit exists. Ask the organiser or race officials for the applicable Sprint instruction; do not copy the Olympic limit into your Sprint plan.

Plan the handoff after the finish
Tell supporters beforehand that companions, including children, relatives and pets, cannot accompany you through the finish. Agree on a meeting point outside that passage and decide who will have any clothes or personal belongings you want before collecting your bike.
Collection opens only once every Sprint athlete has finished the bike and left the second transition. Keep your bib visible when entering and leaving transition, and check the opening announcement with officials. The sheets close collection 30 minutes after the last classified finisher. Toilets and a bag drop are listed; showers and changing rooms are not available. Give this part of the day its own plan instead of assuming your finish time is your departure time.
